About Mill House Makes

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Whilst Baby Number 1 was little I taught myself how to sew using an old sewing machine I found under my mum's stairs. I realised quite quickly I didn't like the options available to me when it came to dressing her. I wanted comfortable clothes which my baby could move about in, clothes that were easy to change and ever the demanding one I also wanted them in bright and cheerful prints for an affordable price. I decided it was time to do something about it and so my obsession began!

Fast forward 9 years later and two more children and my skills and my fabric collection have increased substantially.

MY LITTLE HANDMADE BUSINESS

I usually sew two days a week during the school hours, one day I cover the book keeping for the family farm and that gives me two 'mummy days' with Baby No 3 before he heads into school full time.  Evenings are a blur of feeding frenzy tea times, very wet bath times and fairytales before I finish off a few jobs and take a rest.

Sometimes in my head, I like to pretend this is a mega business, in reality it is not! Buying an item from me means you get something individually made from quality fabrics, something to be treasured and loved.

Every item is handcrafted and because of that not every one is identical. I buy small quantities of fabric and make what I can from what I have with a minimal amount of wastage.

I try to make mini batches of clothes that I think you will like so you won't find every size in every options but please get in contact if you want a particular size and I will do my very best to make it for you.

Mill House Makes is on Facebook and Instagram and this is the best way to stay up to date with the latest makes and any craft markets coming up so make sure your a follower to stay in the know!

Thank you for supporting me and my little handmade business, each and every order means the world to me!

Best wishes,

Jessie Thomas
